The efficiency of the hull design stands vindicated by the power of the ship engine. A poor hull design necessitates the use of powerful engines to make good the design deficiencies which leads to cost escalations. With the engine being the nerve center of the ship, it becomes critical to accurately estimate the engine power to render a ship efficient and to optimize it for the desired contract speed at a specified trim, draught and power.

The software designed by ProGlobal Marine allows for importing of Hull Designs and based on analytical and empirical methods can calculate within a matter of few seconds the most ideal engine power. Going a step forward, the software also uses numerical methods to numerically analyze the hull for greater accuracy in results.

A database of past model tests is made available to the designer which helps in estimating the power requirements within a safe range so as to make easy the choice of machinery.

SeaKeeping forms an important component of optimizing the Ship Hull form and in determining the behavior of the ship underway and in high sea states which has significant repercussions on the cost. It also determines the ability of the ship to perform efficiently under adverse environmental conditions. Simply stated, Sea Keeping is all about Performance and Sea Worthiness.

Generally, Sea Keeping analysis is based on any one of these, namely, Strip theory which is two dimensional, reliable and most preferred till date or Green Function method for 3-D analysis and finally the Rankine Panel method. ProGlobal Marine scores over most of the softwares available by providing a choice of all the three methods for analysis.

Maneuvering is the ship’s ability at turning and keeping its course. Any vessel plying on international waters is required to fulfill or meet certain criteria on maneuverability as laid down by either IMO or IACS or its local classification society as Maneuverability is vital for the ship’s safety. While most available softwares provision for only any one of these, ProGlobal Marinesoftware is one-of-its kind and provides for the validation of all the three frameworks.

The software is used to simulate the hull model and test for Stopping, Turning Circle and Zig-zag in accordance to the preferred frameworks and can be modified accordingly till the desired results are achieved. While in most cases the plotting is done manually on graph, adds novelty and sophistication to its indigenous software through the simulation feature for a real-time analysis.

The software designed by our hydrodynamic experts and naval architects produces results that are reliable and safe. The hydrodynamic derivatives are automatically computed based on desired input parameters of length, breadth etc for which the simulation is generated and can be easily corrected through the intuitive software to meet the maneuverability criteria.

The behavior of the ship while at sea in both still and choppy waters determines the stability of the ship. Stability is essentially about striking a fine balance between the important parameters like center of gravity, center of buoyancy and meta-center of the vessel and studying the impact of their interactions with each other.

GreenSHIP has invested ample forethought in designing the software so as to make available the best tests and experiments like the Inclining Experiment for stability calculations, Intact Stability Test for testing intact vessels and the Damaged Stability Test which takes into consideration the probability of damage and its impact on stability.
